Mental training CLTA India
CHANDIGARH, MAY 21 Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association (CLTA) launched a special 10-day programme on mental training on May 18. Mr.Ronnie Lindahl, a certified mental trainer from Sweden in conducting this programme at the Sector 10 Tennis Stadium here.
CLTA chairman Rajan Kashyap disclosed that the purpose of the programme is to prepare the young players to face match situations with confidence. As many as 30 boys and girls of CLTA, who are playing tournaments in the national circuit, have been selected for the mental training scheme.
Professor Emeritus Jitendra Mohan, a psychologist of Panjab University is acting as a facilitator.
In October , during 3rd World Congress on Excellence , held from October 19 to 23 2015 in Panjab University , Chandigarh, a partnership was mooted by CLTA with Professor Lars-Eric Unestahl of Scandinavian International University, Sweden .
In this first initiative of its kind, the young champions and tennis coaches will be trained in the skills of visualization, team problem solving, role of mind in optimizing performance, stress management, relaxation, goal setting and self development. The ultimate goal for the players is excellence in performance. The Integrated Mental Training systems have proved successful with high performing sportsmen from different sports disciplines in Europe.
The project initiated by the visiting expert from Sweden would continue for 100 days with the support of some young sport psychologists designated by the Department of Psychology, Panjab University, Chandigarh. It is hoped that this collaboration between experts from Sweden,
Panjab University and Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association will help young players
in optimizing their sporting performance. The impact of mental conditioning of the players on their performance in tournaments under the scheme will be evaluated by the experts.
